WeatherAds Alternatives 2026: Weather-Triggered Ad Tools Compared

WeatherAds.io was one of the first dedicated tools for weather-triggered advertising, and it’s still the best known. It isn’t the only option now, and it isn’t the right fit for every budget.
This guide compares WeatherAds with the alternatives we’d consider ourselves: WeatherTrigger (our product), WeatherAlpha, Optmyzr, enterprise platforms like Smartly and Skai, and the do-it-yourself routes through Google Ads scripts and Make. We’ve tried to describe each tool by what it actually does today, including where WeatherTrigger falls short.
WeatherAds vs WeatherTrigger in short: WeatherAds covers Google Ads, Meta, YouTube, TikTok and programmatic, can change bids and budgets, and starts at $99 a month before moving to a percentage of ad spend. WeatherTrigger covers Meta only for now, switches ad sets on or off or cuts their budgets, and costs a flat $19 to $99 a month. Choose WeatherAds for reach across platforms, WeatherTrigger for simple Meta rules at a fixed price.
Updated September 2026. Competitor details come from each vendor’s public website and pricing page at the time of writing. Plans change, so check the vendor’s site before you buy.

The tools in detail
1. WeatherAds.io
WeatherAds is the most complete dedicated weather-ads platform. It connects to Google Ads, Meta, YouTube, TikTok, DV360, Google Ad Manager and Salesforce Marketing Cloud, plus Zapier and webhooks for anything else. Its triggers go beyond weather into pollen, air quality, flu and flight disruption, and it has a data partnership with AccuWeather.
Pricing (from weatherads.io/pricing, September 2026):
- Economy: $99 a month flat, for up to $1,500 a month of weather-triggered spend, with 9 triggers
- Growth: 7.5% of ad spend, $249 monthly minimum, 18 triggers
- Premium: 6% of ad spend, $899 monthly minimum, 70+ triggers
- Enterprise: custom, from $2,499 a month
Strengths:
- Widest platform coverage of any tool here, including Google Ads and programmatic
- Can change bids and budgets, not just switch campaigns on and off
- Largest trigger library, including non-weather signals like pollen and flu
- Checks conditions as often as every 15 minutes
- Long track record and published case studies
Things to weigh:
- Above the Economy cap, you pay a percentage of spend. The fee grows with your budget even if your weather rules don’t change
- The trigger count you get depends on the tier
Good fit for: brands and agencies that need Google Ads or programmatic alongside Meta, bid and budget automation, or triggers beyond weather.
2. WeatherTrigger (our product)
WeatherTrigger does one job: it pauses, resumes or scales down Meta ad sets when the weather at a location matches your rule. You connect your Meta ad account, choose a location and conditions, pick the ad sets, and publish. Setup takes about five minutes.
What it does today:
- Platform: Meta (Facebook and Instagram). Google Ads is on the roadmap but not available yet
- Action: switches ad sets on or off, or scales an ad set’s daily budget down and restores it when the weather clears. It never raises a budget above what you set in Meta, and it doesn’t change bids, audiences or creative
- Conditions: temperature, rain chance, rain and snow amount, snow, wind speed, wind gusts, humidity, cloud cover, and severe weather alerts
- Time windows: today, the next few days of forecast, or the past 24 hours
- Check frequency: you choose per rule, from every 30 minutes to once a day
- Auto-revert: optionally switches ad sets back once conditions have cleared on two checks in a row, and never flips within a single check interval
- Audit log: every check records the weather reading, the rule result and the action taken
- Weather data: OpenWeather
Pricing: flat, never a percentage of spend. Starter is $19 a month (3 rules), Pro is $49 (15 rules) and Business is $99 (unlimited rules). Every plan starts with a 30-day free trial and no card (full pricing).
Limitations:
- Meta only for now. If you need Google Ads today, WeatherTrigger can’t do it
- No budget increases. It can cut a budget when the weather turns against you, but if you want to raise budgets when it rains, you’ll need another tool
- Fewer conditions than WeatherAds’ top tiers, and no pollen, air quality or flu signals
- A new product, so there are no published customer case studies yet. It’s built by the team behind LeadSync.me, a Meta lead ads platform running since 2016
Good fit for: small businesses and agencies running Meta ads who want a simple weather switch at a fixed monthly price.
3. WeatherAlpha
WeatherAlpha is a newer tool, launched in 2026 and based in Tallinn, Estonia. It connects to Meta and Google Ads, and it can switch campaigns on and off or move bids up and down.
Pricing (from weatheralpha.io/pricing, September 2026): $49, $149, $349 and $899 a month, flat.
Strengths:
- Covers both Meta and Google Ads at a flat price
- Bid changes as well as on/off
- Probability-based triggers (for example, “70% chance of rain”) and a 30-minute refresh
Things to weigh:
- Weather coverage is limited to a set list of cities (54 at the time of writing), so check that your markets are included
- A smaller trigger set (9) than WeatherAds
- Very new, with little public track record so far
Good fit for: advertisers in covered cities who want Meta and Google in one flat-priced tool.
4. Optmyzr
Optmyzr is a Google Ads and Microsoft Ads management suite rather than a weather tool, but its Rule Engine can use weather as a condition. Rules can change budgets, tCPA and tROAS targets, and bids, or include and exclude cities based on the weather.
Pricing: part of a normal Optmyzr subscription. There’s no separate weather fee.
Strengths:
- Can change targets and budgets, which suit Smart Bidding campaigns better than pausing them
- Worth checking first if your team already uses Optmyzr
Things to weigh:
- No Meta support
- You’re paying for a full PPC suite if weather is the only feature you need
Good fit for: Google Ads teams, especially those already on Optmyzr.
5. Smartly and Skai (enterprise)
Both are enterprise ad platforms with weather features. Smartly can use weather feeds (from OpenWeather) to switch ads on and off and to drive dynamic creative. Skai offers weather-based automated actions on status, bids and budgets by region, using AccuWeather data.
Pricing: not published. Expect an annual enterprise contract.
Good fit for: large advertisers who already use either platform, or who need weather-driven creative at scale.
6. Google Ads scripts (do it yourself)
A Google Ads script can call a weather API on a schedule and pause campaigns or change budgets when conditions match. Our Google Ads scripts example walks through the code.
Strengths:
- Free, apart from your time
- Full control over the logic, and the code lives in your Google Ads account
Things to weigh:
- Google Ads only
- Scripts can run at most once an hour, and each run is limited to 30 minutes
- You maintain it. When the weather API or Google Ads changes, you fix it
- Google’s own weather-based campaign management script has been removed from its documentation. Also, the weather bid modifiers that older scripts rely on are ignored by Smart Bidding (tCPA, tROAS, Performance Max). Budgets, targets and pausing still work
Good fit for: technical teams running Google Ads only.
7. Make.com or Zapier (integration platforms)
You can build a weather trigger yourself in an automation tool. Make has native Facebook Ads modules, and our Make.com tutorial shows a working Meta setup with the OpenWeather API.
Strengths:
- Flexible: combine weather with Slack alerts, email or anything else Make connects to
- A free tier to prototype on
Things to weigh:
- You build and debug the logic yourself, including when to switch back
- How often a scenario can run depends on your plan, and each run uses operations, so costs rise with the number of rules and locations
- No purpose-built log of which weather reading caused which change
Good fit for: people comfortable with automation tools who want one or two custom workflows.
What about general ad automation tools?
Tools like Bïrch (formerly Revealbot), Madgicx and Adzooma automate Meta and Google campaigns based on performance metrics. As of September 2026, we couldn’t find a weather condition in any of them. You’d need to connect weather data yourself.
Cost at different spend levels
Flat and percentage pricing diverge as your budget grows. The table below uses each vendor’s published prices. It isn’t a like-for-like comparison: WeatherAds includes Google Ads, bid changes, budget increases and more triggers, which WeatherTrigger doesn’t.
| Monthly ad spend under weather rules | WeatherAds | WeatherTrigger | WeatherAlpha |
|---|---|---|---|
| $1,500 | $99 (Economy) | $19–$99 | $49–$899 |
| $5,000 | $375 (Growth, 7.5%) | $19–$99 | $49–$899 |
| $20,000 | $1,200 (Premium, 6%) | $19–$99 | $49–$899 |
| $50,000 | $3,000 (Premium, 6%) | $19–$99 | $49–$899 |
WeatherAds figures use the cheaper of its plans at each spend level. The flat-priced tools cost the same at every spend level, and the plan you need depends on features and the number of rules and locations.
One thing to check with any on/off tool
Pausing is the simplest weather action, and it’s what WeatherTrigger does. It works best for reach and awareness campaigns, for busy ad sets, and for pauses of a few days. For conversion-optimised campaigns, keep two platform rules in mind:
- Meta: resuming an ad set that has been paused for 7 days or more restarts the learning phase. If a rule could hold an ad set off through a long dry or cold spell, use auto-revert or check on it.
- Google Ads: reactivating a Smart Bidding strategy restarts learning, but changing its targets or budget doesn’t. For Google, tools that shift budgets or targets (WeatherAds, Optmyzr) are often a better fit than pausing.
Which should you pick?
- You run Meta ads and want a simple weather switch at a fixed price: WeatherTrigger.
- You need Google Ads, programmatic, or bid and budget changes across many channels: WeatherAds.
- You want Meta and Google at a flat price, and your cities are covered: WeatherAlpha.
- You’re Google-only and already on Optmyzr: use its Rule Engine.
- You’re an enterprise on Smartly or Skai: use their built-in weather features first.
- You’re technical and want full control: a Google Ads script or a Make scenario.
